VARU by Atmosphere Maldives Appoints Utkarsh Faujdar As Their General Manager
Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts announces the appointment of Utkarsh Faujdar as the General Manager of VARU by Atmosphere Maldives. Atmosphere’s latest property, VARU is set to open in October 2019.
Utkarsh Faujdar has been in the hospitality industry for over three decades. Previously he was in the Maldives as the General Manager of Hulhule Island Hotel for a term of 14 years. During his working years at the hotel he strived the hotel in a fast acceleration of growth and has positioned the hotel at the top, winning a number of international awards as well.
Before his run in the Maldives, Utkarsh was the General Manager of Trident Hilton Agra. A five-star hotel located in the North of India, featuring 140 rooms.

VARU by Atmosphere is the start of a wide expansion plans by the Indian Ocean hospitality group. The new property will be an addition to the group’s growth within the ‘By Atmosphere’ sub brand along with the group’s other sub-brands of OZEN, OBLUS and OBLU Select.
Nestled in the pristine waters of North Male Atoll, the 108 villa Premium All-Inclusive Resort is just a 40-minute speedboat away from the Velana International Airport. ‘Varu’ in Dhivehi, the local dialect refers to strength, resilience and life in abundance which comes to life at the resort, perfectly balancing the architecture and the tropical chic vibes. The villas in the resort offers minimalist designs and vibrant colors and comes with a private pool. Whether the villa is located in the in the lush vegetations or over the charismatic lagoon waters.
The resort also features a dive and water sports centre, ELENA spa, gymnasium and kids club. The house reef of the island is known to be home to mantas and other marine life species, offering the guests an authentic, Maldivian underwater experiences.
Atmosphere’s first property, Atmosphere Kanifushi, opened its doors in December 2013, followed by OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli, in November 2015. Then they launched their flagship ‘Lifestyle Luxury’ sub-brand, OZEN by Atmosphere, in July 2016; and then OBLU Select at Sangeli, which opened in July 2018.
