The Maldives reopen its doors to South African travelers

South African travelers dreaming to visit the Maldives can now confirm their travel plans as the travel ban for southern Africa, triggered by the discovery of a new variant of Covid-19, Omicron, has been lifted.
On November 28, 2021, a travel ban on travelers from seven African countries – South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, and Eswatini, was issued by the Maldives government over concerns about Omicron.
While other beach destinations remain closed, the Maldives is ready to welcome and entertain South African travelers. The Maldives offers an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. Not only is it nature’s playground, but the abundant activities the islands have to offer are an ideal getaway for the family or as a romantic break.
South Africans can visit the Maldives with just a PCR test, and on arrival, a free tourist visa will be allowed.
