Maldives Reaches Milestone 1 Million Arrivals in 2019

Tourism Minister Hon. Ali Waheed announced that Sunny Side of Life has welcomed over 1 Million tourists in 2019 so far. In a press conference held by the ministry, Minister Hon. Ali Waheed stated the fact that the authorities are keen to reach the set target of 1.5 Million tourists.
Maldives welcomed 132,144 tourists during this July- an 8% increase compared to July 2018. We also witnessed a staggering 994,733 tourist arrivals to the Maldives before end of July this year, with an 17.2% percent increase compared to the same period last year. During the mentioned period the total occupancy has been at 64% and the average tourist spends 6.3 days in the Maldives.

As of the end of July a total of 49,095 tourist beds were registered in the Maldives and 45,983 of them were operational. Maldives has unveiled number of many luxurious resorts so far this year and more opening are set to follow.
Market wise, European market is dominating the tourists coming to the Maldives. However, when it comes to individual countries, China is at the top of the list, with India as second and Italy as the third followed by UK ad Germany.
